The Chinese electronics company Hisense is probably best known in the West for its televisions, but the company also produces smart phones as good as their TV’s. This includes one model that is a dual-screen version with an AMOLED screen on one side of the phone and an E Ink display on the other.
The main screen of Hisense A2 Pro is AMOLED (think Samsung), it has a diagonal screen of 5.5 inches at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The E-Ink display on the rear panel has a diagonal of 5.2 inches, its resolution is 960 x 540 pixels. I have found that the main screen is simply beautiful and when outside in the sun, my phone is usable in direct sunlight, through the e-ink screen. I even play solitaire on the e-ink side. So far I have not found any Android apps that do not function in e-ink, but no color could ruin game playing.
The phone while not a powerhouse does also include a Snapdragon 625 (seems snappy to me), 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in ROM memory. The main camera is equipped with a 12 mega-pixel image sensor Sony IMX386. The front camera has a resolution of 16 mega-pixels. The battery is characterized by a capacity of 3090 mAh, the fingerprint sensor is on the right panel of the smart phone.
I found one issue that I had to overcome: I had to go to Hisense and flash the firmware again. The phone was bought through an outside source other than Hisense and they had jimmied the firmware with added apps and such. Messed it up…
After testing this phone, I have actually started to use it as my daily driver. I use the e-ink screen for much of my phone time and the battery simply lasts and lasts and lasts…
Now I would like to get the Hisense A2 Pro, it has more power and seems to have most of the bugs worked out. But I will stay with my original for now. I like it…
